Former NHL great Tom Lysiak is a little nervous these days watching his daughter Jessie Lysiak compete on the cooking competition show Masterchef season 4. Jessie made it in to the top 6 contestants last night in a bid to win Masterchef's first prize of $250,000 and a cookbook deal.
Tom Lysiak played for the Atlanta Flames (leading the team in scoring for 5 years straight) and for the Chicago Blackhawks, leading the team in scoring in 1980-81. Lysiak is also infamous for incurring one of the longest suspensions in league history (20 games) for tripping a linesman in 1983.
I believe Lysiak won rookie of the year for the Flames and was a great player. We never should have traded him. We did get Bolderiev, Russell and Rota for him, in the deal, but none were as good as Lysiak.
